Meet Tuyet

Tuyet Huynh graduated from the University of Manitoba Medical Rehabilitation Program in 2002 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Since then, she has worked in the area of occupational rehabilitation carrying out many services such as:  Functional Capacity Evaluations,  Ergonomic Assessment and training, Physical Demands Analysis,  Worksite Assessments, Home Assessments and Permanent Impairment. 

Tuyet has a particular passion and interest in both Acquired Brain Injury (focusing in Cognitive Rehabilitation) and Mental Health (behavioral activation programs, exposure therapy, dialetical behavioral therapy). She enjoys creating treatment plans and implementing rehab services in the community. 

Tuyet has completed training through the Matheson System for Functional Capacity Evaluations, Post offer Employment Testing, Job Analysis (physical and cognitive) and Cognitive Functional Capacity Evaluations. Tuyet also holds her ergonomic certification through the EKG program. Tuyet has completed many workshops and courses through Dr. Toglia for Cognitive Rehabilitation, American Congress of Rehab Medicine (ABI work) and Brock University ABI Training. Lastly, she has completed many courses through the National Institute for Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine and Association for Psychological Therapies for mental health.


MEET JULIA

Julia Reimer graduated from the University of Manitoba with her Bachelors of Science from the college of Medical Rehabilitation with her Masters in Occupational Therapy.

Julia has over a decade of experience working with individuals of all ages in acute and long-term care facilities, as well as individuals within the community or individuals who are transitioning from hospital to community environments.  These individuals have experienced disability related to musculoskeletal, cognitive, social/emotional development and sensory processing.  She has done work in the community working with individuals with behavioral and psychiatric disorders.

Julia has a passion in working with individuals with mental health. She has additional training in PGAP and use of trauma based therapies to assist in managing mental health barriers. Julia believes that a holistic approach, specifically using a foundational health model, is essential for ones well-being and achieving success in day to day function. Julia has years of experience in cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure therapy work. She has completed additional training and courses through Jack Hirose for Mental Health and Dr. Toglia for Cognitive Rehabilitation.

Areas of experience aside from mental health include:  Return to Work Planning, Cognitive Rehabilitation,  Program Development, Physical Demands Analysis,  Worksite Assessment, Home Assessment, Ergonomic Assessment, Case Management, Percentage of Duties Assessment, Permanent Impairment Assessment.


MEET MONICA

Monica Warzel graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. She then went on to pursue her Master’s of Occupational Therapy degree.

Monica appreciates the holistic view that occupational therapy maintains and is passionate about working with individuals to help them participate in the activities that are meaningful to them. Monica prides herself on being a continuous learner- always seeking out additional opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills.

Monica’s areas of experience include personal care assessments, permanent impairment assessments, ergonomics, job demands analyses, return to work planning, home assessments, cognitive rehabilitation, wheelchair assessment and prescription as well as driver’s anxiety programming.

Monica has completed additional training with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists including courses focusing on Cognitive Rehabilitation (assessment and intervention), Return to Work, Mental Health and Wheelchairs/Seating and Postural Control. As well, Monica has completed training with Dr. Toglia in Functional Cognition with the brain injury population.


MEET MCKYLA

McKyla Poponick graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology. She then went on the pursue her Master’s of Occupational Therapy degree.

Mckyla has experience working in a long-term care facility, acute care, hand therapy, and working in rural communities. Mckyla has experience working with adults and older adults.

Mckyla has a passion and interest in Traumatic Brain Injury and persons with ADHD. She loves working in the community setting and enjoys helping individuals get back to what they love doing. She enjoys helping clients to be as functional as possible, and transition back to every day activities.

Mckyla has completed continuing education courses in the areas of Cognitive Rehabilitation under Dr. Toglia as well as various courses with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists on brain injury and ADHD. She has training in cultural safety, and wheelchair assessments.  

 Mckyla has experience in areas such as cognitive rehabilitation, ADHD, personal care assessments, permanent impairment assessments, ergonomic assessments, job demand analysis, return to work planning, home assessments and wheelchair assessments.


MEET Alexandra klassen

Alexandra Klassen graduated from the University of Manitoba College of Medical Rehabilitation with her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2014. Since then, she has worked with adults is varying settings, including, acute care, long-term care and within the community.

Alexandra has a passion for working with individuals with Acquired Brain Injury. She enjoys working in the community as it allows for the implementation of holistic approaches that supports goal attainment and return to daily function.

Alexandra has completed continuing education courses in the areas of Cognitive Rehabilitation through the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and Brock University ABI Training. She also has training in the areas of Wheelchair Seating (manual & power), Pressure Injury Prevention and Healing, Pain Management, Upper Extremity Assessment and Rehabilitation, Visual Perceptual Rehabilitation and Health Behaviour Change models of care.

Areas of experience include Personal Care Assessment, Return to Work Planning, Cognitive Rehabilitation, Visual Perceptual Rehabilitation, Upper Extremity Rehabilitation, ADL Retraining, Community Reintegration, Wheelchair and Walker Assessment, Lift and Transfer Assessment and Training,
