Activation Therapy/ PGAP

Our occupational therapists carry out activation therapy which is aimed at enhancing an individual’s ability to engage in meaningful and purposeful activities. Occupational therapy focuses on helping individuals achieve independence in their daily lives by developing, recovering, or maintaining essential skills through tailored interventions. It is particularly beneficial for individuals recovering from mental health barriers or managing chronic conditions. The outcome is to lead more fulfilling and active lives, fostering self-confidence, improved functionality, and greater participation in their communities.

Exposure Therapy

Exposure therapy is carried out by our occupational therapist to support individuals in overcoming challenges that address anxiety disorders, phobias, and trauma. It involves gradually and systematically exposing individuals to feared situations or stimuli in a controlled manner to reduce fear and avoidance over time. Occupational therapist helps a person develop the practical skills needed to face a feared activity and addresses the emotional and psychological barriers to engaging with it. Treatment is typically done in conjunction with the clients psychologist. Sessions are done in the home and in the community.

Driver’s Anxiety Management Program

We offer rehabilitation services to help drivers return to driving safely and confidently. As well as assist passengers who have trouble getting back into a vehicle. We help clients better manage their anxiety related to driving by providing strategies such as cognitive behavioural therapy techniques and gradual exposure. In addition, we work alongside a licensed driving instructor for additional assessment and training with hands-on road training.

Cognitive Work Hardening

Cognitive work hardening works on improving specific skills by providing education on practical strategies; allowing space to practise utilizing new skills and increasing their tolerance/readiness for work. We help clients prepare mentally and cognitively for sustained work periods. The program is done in their own home.

Our therapists have training in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and PGAP.
