Physical Demands Analysis (PDA)

A Physical Demands Analysis  is a systematic procedure to quantify and evaluate the physical and environmental demands of the essential functions of a job. PDA’s play an important role in return to work and can be used reactively for rehabilitation and return to work purposes, and proactively to prevent injury.

This assessor has been trained through the Matheson system for PDA’s.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics applies quantitative ergonomic risk assessment methods to assess the need for change and enable ergonomic risk management. It is proven that ergonomics has resulted in dramatic and quantifiable reductions to the incident rates and lost work days while providing a significant return on investment. The bottom line:  “The easier a job is to do, the more likely it is to see gains in productivity due to greater efficiency.”

Ergonomics Evaluations / Worksite Assessments

Ergonomic evaluations identify and report any risk factors that the employee may encounter at their workstation. By identifying these risks for injury and physical stressors, this therapist provides recommendations for modified design and practice.  A detailed report with photographs and recommendations is provided.

Computer Ergonomics Training

Training sessions can be done over a lunch period or in small groups.  This includes a review of the human body, general ergonomic principles, common musculoskeletal disorders, proper postures and review proper workstation set up.

OTHER ASSESSMENTS AND SERVICES

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE)

A Functional Capacity Evaluation collects objective information relevant to the determination of feasibility for employment. This includes identifying individual’s strength and abilities by the following activities: standardized tests, physical effort testing, reliability of pain reporting, real or work simulated activities and standardized questionnaires. Normally done over a one day period or two half days.

This evaluator is trained using the Matheson System

Cognitive Functional Capacity Evaluations (CFCE)

This one day assessment looks at determining a client’s level of cognitive and perceptual function through standardized tools and observation of functional/work simulation activities.  The assessment can compare a client’s current function to that required of the demands of their job.  The assessment could also be used as a baseline tool. The CFCE testing also looks at reliability of cognitive reports and consistency of effort. This evaluator is trained using the Matheson System.

Occupational Therapy Home Assessments

This assessment looks at the clients functional and cognitive abilities to carry out their activities of daily living such as self-care, productivity and leisure.  Clients will be asked to perform physical testing and demonstrate activities of daily living.  A report will be given with recommendations regarding aids, equipment and or appropriate support.

Personal Care Assessments

This involves looking at a client’s ability to complete their activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.  An interview and functional assessment is completed with recommendations aimed at improving independent, safety and function in daily activity.

Permanent Impairment

An assessment is done on a client for scarring and range of motion for permanent impairment purposes.

Driver anxiety program

We offer rehabilitation services to help drivers return to driving safely and confidently. As well as assist passengers who have trouble getting back into a vehicle. We help clients better manage their anxiety related to driving by providing strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and gradual exposure. In addition, we work alongside a licensed driving instructor for additional assessment and training with hands on road training.
